The Department of Biotechnology, NIT Warangal is organizing a one week online Faculty Development Programme on Development of therapeutics using Bioinformatics: recent trends and strategies from 8th-12th May, 2023
In recent times, drug discovery strategies have undergone a lot of changes. Apart from molecular docking studies that are performed, scientists are now combining atomistic Molecular Dynamics simulations, systems biology, etc strategies to understand the impact of protein-ligand interaction over a certain period of time. It is also possible now to monitor the allosteric effects of a molecule. Moreover, designing on novel molecules that can act as an antibody has proved very useful by saving considerable time and experimental resources. Computers have also become a boon in vaccine development, where scientists are now able to study the impact of the developed antibody on the metabolic pathways of a person. Apart from a large spectrum of lectures, the FDP program also plans to conduct a one-day workshops where the participants can get hands-on experience of screening and selecting candidate molecules based on their free energies.
