A postdoctoral research position funded by India Alliance-DBT/ Wellcome Trust is available in the research group of Dr. Kasturi Mitra, Associate Professor, Indian Alliance Senior Fellow, Department of Biology at Ashoka University. Biology department at Ashoka university provides a vibrant learning and research environment, allowing seamless crosstalk of Biology with various other fields including computational biology, biophysics, chemistry, psychology and others (https://ashoka.edu.in/biology). The Mitra lab studies the role of mitochondria in normal and neoplastic cell proliferation in Drosophila, mammalian cell line models and patient samples (https://walk-talk-dream-mito.w…).
The postdoctoral researcher hired for this position will primarily use side directed mutagenesis approach, cloning, high resolution fluorescence microscopy and biochemical approaches to study mitochondria driven priming of stem cell selfrenewal and proliferation identified and described by the Mitra lab. The postdoc will have the opportunity to work with Airyscan2 super-resolution technology and collaborate with quantitative biologists towards understanding the mechanism of mitochondria driven stem cell priming. Also, the postdoc will be responsible for training and mentoring graduate and undergraduate students, alongside Kasturi.
