The lab of Dr Adish Dani at Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) Hyderabad, invites applications for research projects involving high-resolution microscopy, instrumentation, computational image analysis. Research studies in the lab develop microscopy tools to address questions in basic cell biology, neurobiology as well as neuronal disorders. We seek a well-qualified, enthusiastic and collaborative person to assist in the setup, maintenance, development of optical microscopy rigs as well as participate in experiments and data analysis. Candidates with experience writing custom scripts in Python, Matlab, LabView for instrument control and data analysis are encouraged to apply. Familiarity with analog/digital circuit design, signal processing and strong quantitative skills are desired. Primary responsibilities include assistance in image acquisition and analysis, writing and modifying programs in Python to control the operation of various instruments via the computer interface on custom-built microscopy rigs. Future projects also involve incorporating computational Machine Learning (ML) tools for automated analysis of images or videos. The candidate must be self-motivated, capable of working independently, and in a collaborative setting. A strong work ethic, good communication skills and ability to maintain organized records is essential. Candidates that have a research background in engineering, computer science, physics ‑with an interest in biology research applications, as well as candidates from biology background with significant skills in instrumentation or programming are encouraged to apply. The lab as well as the research environment at TIFR Hyderabad is highly inter-disciplinary offering a variety of learning opportunities.
Appointments commensurate with education and experience, can be considered at the level of Research Fellow (JRF/SRF), post-doctoral fellow or scientific assistant.
