Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology is organizing a three day hands-on workshop on ‘Western blotting and qPCR techniques’ from 16th to 18th February, 2023. This workshop will provide hands-on experience to following molecular Biology tools; SDS-PAGE, Western Blotting and qPCR. This workshop is planned for Students (UG & PG)/ Research Scholars/Academic Professionals/Industrialists/Scientists and those who are interested in learning molecular biology techniques.

Western blotting is a gold standard molecular biological technique, used for validating the presence of specific protein in the sample. Similarly, qPCR is a powerful sensitive technique used to quantify specific gene expressions. Western blotting and qPCR has a broad range of applications, including diagnostics, gene expression analysis, genotyping, and so on. In this context, this course will cover protein lysate preparation from tissues and cells, SDS-PAGE (Bio-Rad electrophoresis system), protein transfer (Bio-Rad transfer unit), western blotting (Bio-Rad ChemiDoc XRS+ System), qPCR primer designing, qPCR setup (Bio-Rad CFX Opus 96) and data analysis. This workshop will provide hands-on experience to learn the molecular biology techniques, especially SDS-PAGE, Western blotting and qPCR. Furthermore, this platform will help participants design qPCR / antibody-based diagnostic kits.
